White Spots on Penis: Nothing or Something Very Serious?

For many men, the condition of their penis is a very sensitive topic, especially if something is not going right with it. But, if you are experiencing white spots on penis, then you should contact your physician. It is most often harmless, but it never hurts to make sure.

There are a variety of white spots on penis that can occur. They can all mean something very different for you as a man. If you are unsure, then you should most definitely overcome any sense of embarrassment you may have and consult your doctor. The three kinds of white spots that will occur are: ulcers, papules, and plaques.

Ulcers

Ulcers are blister-like bumps that will be filled with some sort of liquid. These can occur in a form where only a single on appears, or multiple ulcers appear. If you only have a single one and more do not arise, you should always consult a doctor. Though the rarest condition, a single ulcer is the most dangerous situation that you can have. It could either by syphilis or another rare, infectious STD. It could also be a sign of cancer. You should consult a doctor immediately.

Multiple ulcers are more common and much less serious, but should still result in a visit with your physician. Multiple ulcers can either be acute, where they last less than two weeks, or chronic, which is of course longer. Acute ulcers on various parts of your penis can be herpes or secondary syphilis, which are both very treatable STDs, but they are highly infectious. It can also be nothing at all, which a test would determine. Chronic ulcers are sometimes infectious diseases, and other times results of other disorders, such as arthritis.

Papules

Papules are small lumps that contain no fluid. If you encounter these, they can be a variety of things. A very infectious skin condition is one of them. Most of these are not at all harmful to you or anyone else, and will go away on their own. One type involves enlarged blood vessels that could burst, though, and treatment should be sought for this. If they are warts, it may be HPV, which can cause cancer, and should result in an immediate doctor visit.

Plaques

Plaques are a much less common type of white spots on penis. They can vary from harmless to potentially deadly, so you should once again visit a doctor. Some are results of skin conditions such as psoriasis or eczema, which are treatable. Others can be cancerous, but many of these can be remedied with circumcision.

The one thing that holds true is that if you encounter a problem with white spots on penis, then you should see a doctor to find out if it is anything dangerous and what can be done. Even if it’s nothing, at least you will know.
